CTheo Brings “BE TRANSFORMED” Ministry to UCCP Sinapangan; SCC President Balaki Joins Worship Service

The College of Theology conducted a Community Extension Ministry at the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) Sinapangan in the Municipality of Libunganon May 3 to 4, 2025 as part of the institution’s continuing community engagement initiatives.

Organized in partnership with the UCCP Cotabato Annual Conference and the College Supreme Government (CSG), the initiative demonstrated the “Together” spirit of the institution, uniting various sectors to serve the local community.

The delegation engaged in hands-on community work that went beyond traditional ministry. In a move to support the “Empowerment and Development” of the local economy, the students and faculty cleaned a local coffee farm. As they supported the agricultural livelihood of the area, the group fulfilled the program’s mandate to “Revitalize” the community’s resources, proving that the ministry encompasses the stewardship of both the land and the soul.

Beyond physical labor, the ministry also focused on “Nurturing” the youth. The team distributed essential school supplies to the children and facilitated a program filled with games, singing, and worship. These activities fostered a spirit of joy and camaraderie, ensuring that the young people of Sinapangan felt the tangible support of their “Big Brothers and Sisters” from SCC.

A highlight of the event was the attendance of SCC President, Dr. Edwin T. Balaki, the visionary behind the BE TRANSFORMED program. He attended the Sunday worship service, reinforcing the administration’s support for holistic ministry. During the gathering, Dr. Balaki shared a message centered on responsible stewardship. His sermon urged the congregation to take care of the resources and blessings God has entrusted to them — a core value of “Reformed Men and Women.” His message reminded the community that true transformation begins when we recognize our role as caretakers of God’s creation.

The outreach concluded with a final worship service and the distribution of “love gifts” to the children. The organizers also expressed their commitment to more outreach ministries in the future. They thanked the people of UCCP Sinapangan for their hospitality, celebrating a successful mission that bridged the gap between the seminary and the soil, truly embodying the service-oriented heart of SCC.

The two-day outreach served as a spiritual and practical execution of SCC’s BE TRANSFORMED Program.
