SCC Showcases Resilience in Fourth Quarter Nationwide Earthquake Drill
Southern Christian College (SCC) demonstrated its robust commitment to institutional safety by actively participating in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on November 6, 2025.
The activity marked the fourth quarter NSED of the year and showcased SCC’s proactive approach to disaster preparedness, safety awareness, and resilience-building among its students, faculty, and staff.
SCC’s participation was executed through close collaboration with key government response agencies, ensuring a high level of expertise and coordination during the simulation. This vital partnership included the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Midsayap, the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) of Midsayap, and the 34th Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The coordinated drill simulated a major earthquake scenario followed by necessary fire response procedures. Participants practiced critical safety measures, including swift evacuation, the proper use of emergency assembly areas, and immediate first-response techniques.
Following the successful execution of the fire and earthquake drill, a dedication ceremony was held to highlight SCC’s investment in its emergency infrastructure. Moving from simulation to concrete action, SCC unveiled a significant upgrade to its safety arsenal. The investment includes a new communications network of handheld radios and protective gear to ensure seamless coordination during crises.
Additionally, a newly installed high-pressure water pipeline at the Senior High School ensures the campus is equipped to immediately combat fire threats.
Through continuous training and strategic investment in equipment, SCC reinforces its commitment to maintaining a safe and disaster-resilient learning environment, aligning the institution with national efforts to enhance preparedness and community resilience during emergencies.
