From Classroom to Crisis: SCC Reinforces Commitment to Community Safety in Disaster Simulation
Southern Christian College (SCC) proudly underscored its active role in community safety and disaster risk reduction during the 3rd UDM Simulation Exercise on Vehicular Accident, hosted by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Midsayap on September 30, 2025.
The event, led by the Municipal Emergency Response Team (MERT), was a major demonstration of the LGU’s commitment to emergency preparedness, a commitment strongly supported by academic institutions like SCC.
SCC’s involvement in the simulation exercise was crucial, illustrating the college’s dedication to translating its educational mission into direct community service. As one of the key local schools and partner organizations, SCC ensured its students and personnel were actively involved in the training.
The presence of SCC participants among the nine (9) groups from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and schools, alongside twenty-three rural villages of the municipality, showcased SCC’s readiness to collaborate with the LGU in emergency situations. The training provided SCC delegates with vital, hands-on experience in life-saving skills, strengthening their civic responsibility and practical response capabilities.
The stakes were high as evaluators scrutinized the teams for immediate crisis effectiveness. Competitors were judged on Patient Management, requiring flawless execution of CPR and splinting techniques, and Overall Performance, which tested the group’s ability to maintain systematic coordination amidst the chaos of a simulated rescue.
By actively engaging in these drills, SCC helps fulfill Midsayap Mayor Rolando C. Sacdalan’s vision of a safer and more resilient Midsayap. SCC’s continued participation reinforces its commitment to being a primary partner in the municipality’s safety and preparedness initiatives.
