CTE Fortifies Community Ties, Launches Second Phase of Ebpeiseg Program

The Southern Christian College (SCC) College of Teacher Education (CTE) strengthened its commitment to community-based educational development with the formal launch of Ebpeiseg V.2: CTE Writing and Numeracy Enhancement Program on January 31, 2025, reinforcing its role in advancing literacy and numeracy skills through sustained academic outreach. By concentrating on these foundational skills, the program directly addresses critical educational gaps, revitalizing the students’ academic potential and nurturing their self-confidence to face future challenges.

Ebpeiseg is a word taken from a local indigenous language, the Erumenen ne Menuvu. Ebpeiseg means “to enhance or to enrich”. The Ebpeiseg initiative started in the school year 2024-2025 and its second phase is set to roll out for the Academic Year 2025-2026. By focusing on the adopted community of Barangay Sinapangan, specifically at the Timuey Anguang B. Campong Integrated School (TABCIS), the CTE is fulfilling the institutional promise to concentrate resources for a bigger, sustained impact.

The launch was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the CTE and the host school. The event saw the strong participation of the CTE Faculty and members of the CTE Student Council, embodying the “Service-Oriented” spirit of the SCC community. Their presence was bolstered by the leadership of CTE Extension Coordinator  Malaya Anawin R. Legurpa, CTE Dean Dr. Maria Rafonsel B. Globasa, and Vice President for Research and Extension Dr. Rodelio N. Ambangan, whose support is vital to the program’s anticipated success.

This formal agreement underscored the companionship aspect of BE TRANSFORMED, proving that sustainable development is built on solid partnerships rather than temporary aid. The MOA ensures the continuity of the program, allowing the College and the community to move forward as partners in education.

Ebpeiseg V.2 serves as a practical demonstration of the CTE’s deep engagement with the local community. The project goes beyond mere instruction; it is a vehicle for “Empowerment and Development.” By equipping children with the tools to read, write, and calculate, SCC-CTE is paving the way for improved academic performance and a brighter future for the young participants of Sinapangan.

The SCC-CTE’s ongoing extension work affirms its mission to not only train future educators but also to directly contribute to the intellectual development and welfare of its surrounding communities.
