Strategic Retailing: SCC Workshop Maps Out Framework for Business Advantage

The College of Business and Accountancy at Southern Christian College (SCC) successfully launched the first session of its Strategic Management Speaker Series on October 17, 2025 at the Educational Media Resource Center (EMRC). The activity aimed to connect the theoretical concepts learned in the classroom to their practical application in real-world business settings.

The activity, with the theme “Strategic Retailing: A Framework of Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation,” was organized and facilitated by the 4th-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Major in Marketing Management (MM) students enrolled in the Strategic Management Class of Ms. Analyn Lea T. Ugalingan, MMBA.

The third-year BSBA-Marketing Management students had the valuable opportunity to learn from an expert resource speaker, Ms. Graziela Lumusbog Pableo, the Sales and Marketing Head of JMAC Holdings, Inc. based in Davao City.

With over 25 years of professional experience, Ms. Pableo shared valuable knowledge and insights in the field of retail management, with her discussion highlighting the critical importance of strategic thinking, adaptability, and innovation in today’s dynamic market environment. She further demonstrated how strategic management can promote empowerment, teamwork, and progress. Her real-world experiences served as an excellent case study on strategy, leadership, and the importance of empowering others.

In the cutthroat world of modern retail, strategy is the only safety net. The session demonstrated that a disciplined framework is the key to business survival. By rigorously connecting planning, implementation, and evaluation, the workshop showed students how to transform a business vision into a sustainable competitive advantage.

The Speaker Series was highly effective in fostering a deeper appreciation of strategic retailing as a vital component of modern business success. It inspired future business professionals to apply these principles in their academic and professional pursuits. The organizers noted that having experts share their real-world experiences, insights, failures, and accomplishments provides a network of knowledge, expertise, and skills, allowing students to truly understand the reality of being on the field.
