SCC Joins GEP- GUP 2025–2026

Southern Christian College has once again been invited to participate in the Global Education Partners (GEP) 2025–2026 Global Understanding Program, an international academic collaboration that connects students and faculty from various countries through a virtual learning environment. The program, scheduled from February 23–28, 2026, carries the theme “Global Politics” with several critical global subthemes.

The initiative is organized by St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) in Jabalpur, India and is recognized as the flagship program of the Global Education Partners (GEP) network.

The Global Understanding Program (GUP) serves as a virtual classroom that brings together students and faculty members from institutions around the world to engage in discussions, collaborative projects, and intercultural exchanges. Through video conferencing, online discussions, and collaborative academic tasks, participants gain meaningful exposure to diverse perspectives and cultural contexts.

The program aims to broaden students’ global outlook and equip them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and multicultural society. It also encourages the development of interdisciplinary partnerships that transcend both academic disciplines and geographical boundaries.

For the 2025–2026 cycle, the program focused on global political issues, with discussions centered on the following subthemes: Election and Electoral System, Climate Change and Biodiversity Preservation, Gender Justice, Communal Harmony, and Universal Civil Code. These topics are expected to foster critical dialogue among participating institutions as students examine contemporary global challenges from multiple cultural and academic perspectives.

Representing Southern Christian College in the 2026 program are students from various academic programs. The student participants include Joshua E. Talondata, Zyra B. Oroc, Ian C. del Rosario, Laurence Daryll A. Cabaya, Arnelie Joy E. Mallorca, Allen Rose R Apostol, Vilmar A. Salcedo, Angel C. Calawigan, John Patrick C. Nitura, and Darel P. Pastoril. The delegation is under the supervision of faculty coordinator Raymundo III Flauta.

SCC’s participation in the Global Education Partners initiative reflects its continuing commitment to internationalization and global academic engagement. The institution’s partnership with St. Aloysius College began in 2021 through Confluence 2.0, a 10-day International Faculty and Student Exchange Program hosted by St. Aloysius College. The event brought together 155 students and higher education faculty members from 16 institutions across India, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Turkey.

Building on the success of the exchange program, the partnership was formally strengthened in 2022 through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement to promote international excellence in higher education. Since then, the Global Understanding Program has created opportunities for both students and faculty at Southern Christian College to collaborate with counterparts from partner institutions worldwide.

Through its continued participation in the GUP, SCC reinforces its mission to provide students with transformative educational experiences that extend beyond the classroom.

By engaging with global peers and exploring pressing international issues, SCC students gain valuable intercultural competence and a broader perspective, which helps them prepare to become globally aware leaders and professionals in an increasingly interconnected world.
