SCC Business Congress Spotlights AI and Sustainability; ‘Eco Pen’ and ‘Coco Strips’ Top Innovation Contests
Bridging the gap between classroom theory and the rapid evolution of the corporate world, the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) of Southern Christian College (SCC) convened its 2nd Business Congress on October 24, 2025 at the SCC Fellowship Center.
This year’s congress was anchored on the theme, Innovate, Integrate, and Inspire: Shaping Tomorrow’s Business Leaders, the event transformed the campus into a hub of commerce and creativity, addressing current market challenges while exploring the frontiers of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and sustainability.
The keynote speaker, Ms. Rochelle A. Otoc-Nuñez of the Department of Trade and Industry Region XI, delivered a compelling address on the necessity of integrating Artificial Intelligence in today’s business environment.
Ms. Nuñez cautioned that innovation is no longer optional but a survival requirement. She emphasized that modern companies must invest in technology and upskill their workforce, all while maintaining strong, human-centric customer relationships.
Beyond the digital frontier, the congress placed a heavy emphasis on environmental responsibility. Student entries for the product prototype competitions largely focused on sustainability, featuring inventions such as “Bioplastic,” “Rice-Straw Based Egg Trays,” and the “Eco Pen.”
The event featured a dynamic lineup of activities, including product pitching, video advertisement screenings, and 3D store layout exhibitions. These activities provided students with a sandbox to test their ideas, fostering cooperation across different teams and disciplines.
The success of the event was attributed to the guidance of the BSBA Faculty and the leadership of CBA Dean Nelly D. Genosas, DBM. The administration was lauded for providing a nurturing environment where innovation and collaboration can thrive.
As markets continue to evolve, Congress has proven to be a vital training ground, equipping SCC’s future business leaders with the practical knowledge and resilience needed for the road ahead.
