Lead, Serve, Transform: SCC NSTP Embraces LEAP Values
Southern Christian College (SCC) hosted a dynamic Leadership Training and Workshop for its National Service Training Program (NSTP) students on December 7, 2024. As part of the Leading with Ethics, Accountability and Purpose (LEAP) Launchpad, the event was specifically tailored to produce globally competitive student leaders capable of navigating the socio-technical challenges of community development.
The workshop commenced with an inspiring first session featuring esteemed SCC alumna, Ms. Sittie Kryslim B. Fadera. Delivering a lecture deeply aligned with the LEAP vision, she shared her expertise on the principles of effective leadership. Her message underscored that strong, ethical leadership is the foundation for driving positive social transformation.
The afternoon session transformed the hall into a design studio for social change. Moving from theory to the ‘Accountability’ phase of LEAP, students were challenged to think like social architects. They worked in teams to diagnose specific community fractures—from sanitation issues to literacy gaps—and engineered concrete project proposals to address them, proving that leadership is defined not by titles, but by the ability to solve problems.
By the end of the session, the workshop successfully equipped the NSTP students not only with essential leadership theories but also with the practical experience required to be effective instruments of social transformation in their respective communities.
