From Lab to Market: SCC Extends its “Ministry of Abundance” at Kalivungan Festival 2025

Southern Christian College (SCC) proudly showcased its entrepreneurial spirit during the Kalivungan Festival 2025, held in celebration of North Cotabato’s 111th Founding Anniversary from August 26 – September 1, 2025.

Spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension and the Peace and Tri-People Dialogue Project, SCC’s participation went beyond a standard exhibition. The booth served as a testament to the institution’s Ministry of Abundance—a strategic move to turn academic research into sustainable Income Generating Projects (IGPs) that support the college’s vision.

The exhibit highlighted SCC’s successful transition from “Lab to Market.” By commercializing research outputs, the college has created a self-reliant ecosystem where innovation directly fuels institutional growth. These products are not merely displays of academic prowess; they are active revenue streams that contribute to the sustainability of SCC and its partner communities.

Visitors flocked to the booth to purchase these “Pride Products,” which represent the intersection of quality research, sustainable agriculture, and economic viability:

  • Artisanal Beverages: Revenue-generating savory wines and refreshing juices processed from local fruits.
  • Market Staples: Naturally grown rice and fresh eggs produced through sustainable farming methods.
  • Agricultural Solutions: Scientifically formulated animal feeds that support local livestock industries.
  • Gourmet Preserves: Commercially packaged jams, jellies, condiments, and spices developed by the college’s research-extension programs.

Through the sale of these goods, Southern Christian College demonstrates that educational institutions can be powerful economic engines. Every purchase made at the booth supports the continuity of these research programs and the livelihoods of the local farmers involved.

Alongside these commercial offerings, the booth distributed IEC leaflets, brochures, and magazines, inviting the public to join SCC in its journey toward academic excellence and economic resilience.
