Beyond the Classroom: How Strategic Management is Shaping the Future Careers of SCC Graduates
In a rapidly shifting global economy, the path from graduation to professional success is rarely a straight line. This reality was the focal point of the third Strategic Management Speaker Series at Southern Christian College (SCC) on October 25, 2025 where students were urged to view “strategy” not just as a business concept, but as a blueprint for their future careers.
Organized by the BSBA Marketing Management students under Ms. Analyn Lea T. Ugalingan, MMBA, the session moved beyond textbook theories to address the practical demands of the modern workforce.
The event featured Ms. Mesciel Danda Roncal, Account Supervisor for Nexus Workforce Inc., whose own career trajectory offered a crucial lesson for aspiring professionals: adaptability is the new currency.
Transitioning from a background in criminology to a leadership role in the corporate world, Ms. Roncal demonstrated to the students that their future professions may evolve in unexpected ways. For the students, the takeaway was clear: a degree is a foundation, but the ability to pivot, learn new industries, and apply transferable skills is what ensures longevity in the workforce.
The seminar challenged students to apply the principles of Strategic Management, such as planning, implementation, and evaluation, to their own professional development. Whether entering Human Resources, Sales, or Operations, the students learned that a “strategic mndset” is what separates an employee from a leader. By treating their careers like a business, defining a clear vision, making calculated choices, and aligning daily actions with long-term goals, SCC graduates are being equipped to navigate complex organizational structures.
Ultimately, the session underscored that technical skills must be paired with grit. Roncal’s emphasis on “unshakable vision” reminded the future graduates that setbacks are inevitable in any profession. However, by adopting a strategic approach to challenges, they can turn obstacles into opportunities for growth.
As these students prepare to enter the workforce, events like this ensure that they carry more than just a diploma; they carry a roadmap for navigating the complexities of the professional world.
