SCC Delegates Complete WPE Academy at AdMU

Dr. Neyrma N. Cabatac, Dr. Joma Ebora, and Rev. Glorilyn Ostoy completed the Whole Person Education Academy (WPEA) held from October 6, 2025 to Ferbuary 11, 2026.

The WPEA is a signature program on holistic and transformative higher education organized by the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA). The 2025 WPEA was hosted by the Ateneo Teacher Center, with support from the Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design.

WPEA first launched the online component of its hybrid course, “Humanizing Higher Education through Whole Person Learning,” on October 6, 2025. The twelve-week online course lasted until January 9, 2026. The February 2026 residential workshop was the program’s culminating in-person engagement, held at Ateneo de Manila University on February 4-11, 2026.

A total of 31 participants joined the academy, composed of duos and trios of faculty members and administrators from 12 Christian Education Institutions (HEIs) across Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Participants were designated by their respective institutions to serve as trainers and champions of Whole Person Education.

The training wrapped up with delegates mastering the essentials of the WPE framework. Beyond the theory, the group tackled the ‘how-to’ of institutional change, analyzing how WPE fits into modern pedagogy and assessment. They left equipped with a plan to introduce these holistic educational innovations to their institution.

For SCC, the participation of Dr. Cabatac, Dr. Ebora, and Rev. Ostoy signals the institution’s continuing commitment to transformative Christian higher education, one that forms not only competent graduates but also socially responsive and ethically grounded leaders.
