US-Based Legal Expert Links Finance and Strategy to Disability Law at SCC Strategic Management Series
Bringing an international perspective to local business education, the Strategic Management Speaker Series pursued its 6th session on November 7, 2025 at the SCC Educational Media Resource Center (EMRC).
Anchored on the theme, “Blueprint for Success: Strategic & Finance in Disability Law,” the session bridged the gap between financial theory and social advocacy, offering a fresh outlook on how business principles apply to specialized legal fields.
The session was headlined by Mr. Mark Justin Cabilao, a Paralegal and Legal Assistant for a Disability Law Office in Vancouver, Washington, USA.
Mr. Cabilao redefined financial management as a tool for justice. He demonstrated that in the realm of Disability Law, a balance sheet is not just a record of profit, but a measure of sustainability for the cause. He stated that without a rigorous financial strategy, from allocating resources for litigation to sustaining non-profit operations, advocacy groups lose the staying power required to protect vulnerable communities.
The seminar was specifically curated for 3rd Year BSBA Financial Management students. This targeted attendance ensured that the audience could directly connect the discussion to their major, illustrating the relevance of finance in high-stakes strategic decision-making.
By exploring the field of disability law, the students gained a broader understanding of how financial managers can lead in diverse sectors. Mr. Cabilao reminded the aspiring professionals that knowledge sharing is the catalyst for collaboration, leaving them with a powerful thought: Success is not just about strategy, it’s about empowering others to grow with you.
The seminar was hailed not just as a classroom extension but as a real-world learning experience that championed the values of leadership, adaptability, and innovation for the next generation of business professionals.
The seamless execution of the event was facilitated by the 4th Year BSBA Financial Management students, under the guidance of Ms. Analyn Lea T. Ugalingan, MMBA.
