SCC Stages Annual HEU Student Research Colloquium

Southern Christian College-Higher Education Unit proudly hosted its annual Celebration of Learning and Service 2026: Student Research Presentation at the Audio-Visual Center on April 10, 2026. With the theme “Research with Purpose: Driving Societal Empowerment and Transformation,” the event underscored the achievements of students in their research, capstone projects, and feasibility studies.

In his inspirational message, Dr. Gideon S. Sumayo highlighted the transformative power of research that serves communities while fostering student growth. He emphasized that the celebration was not only a showcase of academic excellence but also an opportunity for students to receive constructive feedback to refine and strengthen their work.

To ensure rigorous evaluation, panels of professionals and educators assessed the presentations. For the Applied and Research Presentation, the evaluators included Dr. Julius Jerome G. Ele, Dr. Pernelyn S. Torreña, Prof. Bryan Lloyd P. Bretaña, and Dr. Ged S. Sumayo, focusing on both basic and applied research. Capstone projects were reviewed by Ms. Sheila T. Mejos, Jasper Ian Q. Matunog, and Prof. Eugene G. Ranjo. Meanwhile, the Feasibility Studies were carefully examined by Mr. Ferdinand Rivera, Mr. Juanito Dacula, and Ms. Lusille C. Mission.

Beyond recognizing student accomplishments, the event fostered academic dialogue, encouraged critical reflection, and reinforced SCC’s commitment to research and service. More importantly, equipping them to make meaningful contributions to society and embodying the college’s vision of empowerment and transformation.
