SCC extends through Project Angel Tree at Bulucaon, Pigcawayan
Southern Christian College, through the officers of the College Supreme Government, participated as “angels” in the conduct of Project Angel Tree at the barangay covered court of Bulucaon, Pigcawayan, on August 24, 2023.
One hundred twenty-eight (128) elementary students, from Kinder to Grade 6, from A. Mana-ay Elementary School received school bags and other commodities.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) spearheaded the program through Community Facilitator John Deer Vicente and Pigcawayan Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Ms. Beverly P. Yu.
Project Angel Tree is a component of the DOLE – Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program, which aims to improve the economic and social conditions of child laborers and their families through social services such as food, clothing, educational assistance, or school supplies, from sponsors (‘angels’) which are from private sectors.
Also present in the program were Bulucaon Barangay Chairperson Hon. Mark John Montales, Pigcawayan Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Ms. Danica Faith T. Luciano, RSW, Private Secretary to the acting Municipal Mayor of Pigcawayan, Alvin Dela Cruz, members of the Sangguniang Bayan Hon. Aaron J. Bulaclac and Hon. Renie Jay A. Soriano, and the Zumba Girls of Pigcawayan as one of the partners for this year’s Project Angel Tree.
In the Municipality of Pigcawayan, the Project Angel Tree is conducted annually and has been implemented since 2009.
