“By the power vested on me by the Department of Education-Cotabato Division, I hereby declare that Southern Christian College is now ready.” –Ramel A. Palapo

After months of preparation for the different modalities of instruction, Southern Christian College-School of Basic Education (SCC-SBE) achieved another milestone as the Department of Education (DepEd) Division Level through its onsite validators declared SCC-SBE’s readiness for the New Normal of Learning on July 17, 2020.

Ramel A. Palapo, LPT, MAEM and Mark Francis O. Solis, RN, onsite validators assigned to private schools in the PPALMA area, visited the school to observe the preparations of the SBE and to examine the pertinent documents intended for the certification. The validators first had a courtesy call with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Neyrma N. Cabatac and with the College President, Dr. Edwin T. Balaki.

Afterwards, the Director of the School of Basic Education Dana Sue U. Rojo, MAEM, MEdStud, together with her principals Joylyn B. Fajarito, MES of the Elementary Training Department, Rodnie P. Ligaray, MAEd of Junior High School, and Analyn Lea T. Ugalingan, MMBA of Senior High School welcomed them at the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center (QuAAC). The Subject Area Coordinators were also requested to be around for the presentations of the different learning modalities.

Upon arrival to the QuAAC, the validators were already impressed by the preparations of SBE through its gallery of outputs displaying the different modalities the department can offer to its learners. They also interviewed all the principals and the SBE director about their undertakings to ensure readiness in catering the learners amidst the pandemic. Hersil Terence Sean C. Villamor, MEAL, the English Coordinator of SBE, and Farah Rea Mea Macapaar, LPT, JHS English teacher, also demonstrated how online mode of learning works through the use of Schoology, the official Learning Management System of SBE. Astonishingly, Mr. Palapo gave compliments to the presenters and even requested them to do the demonstration at the DepEd Division Level.

After a thorough examination of the documents, the validators confirmed that SCC-SBE has satisfactorily completed all the 19 requirements as prescribed by DepEd. The validators will then forward the documents for endorsement to the DepEd Regional Level that SCC will be granted a Certification of Readiness to Implement the Different Learning Modalities.
