The blue and gold banner once again beamed with luster of excellence as Southern Christian College (SCC) celebrated its President’s Day on July 26, 2021 at the Fellowship Center.

In his State of the College Address, Dr. Edwin T. Balaki summarized through a video presentation the school’s achievements and milestones throughout nine years of good governance, from 2012 to 2021. Such triumphs included renovations of infrastructures like the Fellowship Center, school clinic, and the campus fence; construction of now fully-functional structures like the Administration Building, Senior High School Building, Solidarity Center, and Student Center.

Dr. Balaki also made a remarkable upgrade in the school’s agricultural sector from g’melina, banana, and passion fruit farming to the culture of Tilapia fish in the fish ponds at Nature Farm 2, Barangay Ilbocean, Midsayap. These are just some of those included in the long list of successes that Dr. Balaki and the faculty and staff had achieved — fruits of God’s vineyard nurtured with faith, character, and service.

After nine years of leading SCC, the college president presented nine more goals, answering his own question “What comes next?”. Conversion of two sets of agricultural land into residential areas, solarization and roof repair of the library building, augmentation of personnel salary, and the pursuit for SCC to become a university were some of Dr. Balaki’s plans.

During the program, faculty and staff who had perfect attendance in the Monday Morning Devotion for the academic year 2020-2021 and outstanding library users were also awarded with certificates. At the same time, the schools’ newly hired faculty members were recognized and had their campus tour in the afternoon. – Southern Collegian
