MIDSAYAP, COTABATO— Pupils from the SCC Elementary Training Department showed up early at the voting precincts Thursday to cast their votes using the automated system of elections.

On the second time where SCC utilized the automated system of voting, precincts located at the second floor of the Tech Voc building welcomed early voters as early as 8:00 in the morning. An hour later, most of the elementary pupils have already voted and precincts are now ready to serve voters from the High School level.

This state-of-the-art voting system has become a huge development from the traditional voting system where students write the names of their bets on a ballot and then read aloud during the canvassing of votes.

This time, all SCC pupils and students from elementary, high school and college cast their votes on a programmed electronic system made especially for this election.

According to Nelly Genosas, Director for Student Affairs, the automated system was introduced last year and with its successful turn out, the same system is being utilized this year. She believes this system of voting is timely needed and more efficient. This is also one way to invite students to exercise their right to vote because the system is student- friendly and easy to use, she added.

Shiela Mejos, faculty of the SCC College of Computer Studies developed the system. It was established through the years of testing and tasking technical requirements.

The SCC – COMELEC encourages more students to cast their votes. Precincts will close at 7:00 p.m., the COMELEC said. (scc-mpcd-jkballentes)
