THE LONG WAIT IS OVER: SCC NATURE FARM OPENING VERY SOON
February 24, 2015, 9:10 a.m.
MIDSAYAP, COTABATO— The long wait is finally over. After months of much anticipation, the dates are narrowed down giving a clearer timeline to its most awaited opening.
On Monday, February 23, SCC President Dr. Edwin T. Balaki reveals, during the Monday Morning Devotion that the first phase of the SCC Nature Farm will be publicly opened on March 13 or 20, 2015.
According to President, all efforts are now concerted in this much anticipated opening of the SCC Nature Farm. Both dates fall on a Friday and will be finalized soon depending on the pace of some works that are still on- going.
The development work at the SCC Nature Farm located at the SCC College Hill started in June last year. And since then, it has become one of the most highly anticipated projects under the administration of Dr. Edwin T. Balaki.
Swimming at the river pools
Shaped by nature and beautified by Southern Christian College, these water aesthetics will be one of the main attractions at the 16- hectare natural complex. According to the President, three out of five pools will be ready to be used by guests.
These swimming pools take the shape of the ravines in the area so these are naturally shaped as fresh water flows down from the source. The water is not treated so it remains to be fresh and natural. The pools are enclosed by beautifully planted coconut trees, rambutan and other ornamental plants that add up to its natural beauty.
Animals at the Garden of Eden
Life-size animals like giraffe, horse, crocodile and bullfrogs are also found in the area. Dr. Balaki said the Nature Farm will depict the Garden of Eden as related in the Book of Genesis. The development of the SCC Nature Farm is living up with the Vision and Mission of SCC on promoting an agro-industrial development towards a balanced ecology that enhances quality of life, the President added.
Cottages, Friendship Bridge, convenience store
For day tours and swimming escapades, the SCC Nature Farm will also offer facilities such as cottages with varying sizes depending on the number of guests. Currently, there are 24 cottages to be ready for public use on the opening date. A grilling area is also available for guests.
Just as you enter the complex, a convenience store will be ready to supply your needs. Dr. Balaki said the prices of goods at the store will be the same with the price when you buy outside. More updates to follow soon. (scc-mpcd-jkballentes, all photos by SCC-MPCD)
