MIDSAYAP, COTABATO— Being true to the commitment he made during his second State of the College Address (SOCA), SCC President Dr. Edwin T. Balaki announces Monday the expansion of one of SCC’s flagship income- generating projects.
Dr. Balaki revealed that 2,500 additional chicken layers arrived Saturday boosting the original number of 5,000 layers which currently comprise the existing poultry project of the school. The expansion of the poultry project is SCC’s response to the growing demands for fresh eggs in the local market, the president said.
In August this year, the construction of the layers chicken house began and is set to be dedicated on December 18, 2014. The newly built chicken house is an extension space connected in one of the two existing facilities at the College Hill.
The poultry project of Southern Christian College began in early 2012 during the first year of Dr. Edwin T. Balaki as president. The project started with 2,500 layers and was added 2,500 layers more after a year.
With the existence of the SCC poultry farm, fresh eggs are being produced by SCC which was easily patronized in the local market. The price for each tray sells for P125 for small, P145 for medium, P147 for large, P152 for XL and P165 for jumbo.
