In many ways, our institution as a steward of God’s creation, continues to mark its name in the timeline of history. The history that do not only shape our nation but most specially the history of making a dream come true- a just and peaceful Mindanao.

Time and again, we have proven how much we have dedicated significant efforts to contribute in the achievement of these dreams. In SCC, we integrated peace education in our curriculum because we believe that our students, as young as they are, must know the concepts of peace, understanding and harmony and encourage them to take significant and active roles in their communities in the future.

We have also provided venues for dialogue where people, regardless of their faith, origin and beliefs, can share their aspirations, ideas and stories of peace and even struggle that shaped their ideologies which encourage them to even a lifetime journey in search of genuine and lasting peace. These activities include the Mindanao Peoples Peace Summit, dance for peace, radio for peace, painting for peace and sports for peace and even run for peace.

This continues to manifest our strong commitment because we know as an institution of the Lord; we must take our part in the realization of the dreams of its peoples.

The hope that we all place in the success of the Bangsmoro Basic Law is the hope of all Mindanaoans. We believe that through this landmark legislation, we can see the fulfilment of a dream of a Timuey from Barangay Aroman to finally live in harmony in his own ancestral land, the fulfilment of the hope a young Iranon boy who wished their school could no longer become an evacuation center for him to finish his studies. Or the hope of one Cebuano soldier who wished he would never go to battle again against his fellow Filipino.

This is the one Mindanao that we always dream- a peaceful, harmonious and progressive for everyone regardless of faith, religion or ideology.

As I stand in solidarity with all peoples, let us remember and honor the lives of those who went before us who have also dedicated their life in the realization of our common aspirations.

As we have always shared before, we continue to share it now. 65 years of academic excellence and service, all for a progressive and peaceful Land of Promise. This is your partner- Southern Christian College.
